No need to make resolutions since I don’t have any bad habits (ha!), instead I decided to set 3 creative goals for myself in 2009.
- Be published by a magazine that I have not appeared in before.
- Create a piece of art (in any media) that I am proud to display.
- Help me out here — I feel like I should have a third goal — does anyone have a suggestion?

Start painting regularly.

You know, I never liked painting as much as sketching. But I may give it a try again. Kind of interested in collage — which blends a lot of mediums — so that might be a good compromise.

3rd goal – inspire someone else towards a creative goal. I.e. Make your creativity viral.

Goal 3 — more pro bono for friends! Hahaha! Just kidding. Goal 3 — make your friends pay you, even if it’s with coupons! I have a gift certificate to a taco restaurant and it’s all yours! Hahaha! No, seriously: Goal 3 — have sex this year. Even if it means lowering your standards. Hahaha! Okay, no seriously, super seriously: Goal 3 — stop referring to yourself as “the crazy cat lady.”

Today at my writers’ group mtg we made goals for the year. I’m posting the 5 I wrote down here so I have a record of it … the present tense, “positive” tone thing was part of the exercise (1) I am publishing a new article with a respected periodical. (2) Sketching is part of my weekly activities. (3) My poor, abandoned thriller screenplay finally gets finished (NOTE TO SELF: NOT SURE I *REALLY* CARE ABOUT THIS ONE) (4) The “gift book” idea I’ve been looking for has made itself known. (5) Social media – really utilizing it for marketing and sales – has become a part of my regular online routine.
